“Shaving (The Man in the Moon)” was commissioned by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration for their permanent collection.

Founded in 1962, the NASA Art Program has commissioned artists as varied as Norman Rockwell, Robert Rauschenberg, Nam June Paik, Annie Leibovitz, Thomas Struth, and E.V. Day, among many others. NASA-commissioned works have been exhibited at the Hirshhorn, the Guggenheim Museum, and the Centre Pompidou.
